We know instinctively the joy that being in nature brings and that the embrace of the ngahere revitalises us. Research shows that connecting with the natural world improves mood, concentration, and sleep, restores mental activity, reduces stress, lowers blood pressure and boosts the immune system. Visiting the Maunga offers you a way to nurture your wellbeing.
Be present in the Maunga. Bring a yoga mat and head up to the Events Centre in Te Tui a Tane southern enclosure and practice your own moves, or find a seat to meditate quietly. Detach from the need to learn and instead explore in an experiential and mindful way.
Go slow. Go fast, run to the peaks of the Wairere Traverse. There are lots of opportunities to enhance your wellbeing in a way that suits you.
We also schedule events throughout the year for you to enjoy including; rongoā rākau tours, Forest Serenity days, Meditation at the Maunga.
Our corporate experiences seek to bring balance and perspective to our work lives. Participants of our programmes recognise they’re feeling burnt-out and stressed and are seeking to restore their wellbeing and humour.
Our one day Forest Immersion workshop is a series of guided invitations. These offer new perspectives and ways in which to deepen your connection with nature and benefit your wellbeing. We’ve also partnered with the wonderful Nature & Nosh team to offer up a two day Nature of Work package.
Our Forest Flow session is designed specially for aged care residents. It is based in the restorative properties of nature and supports those with limited mobility and dementia.
Small groups, along with their carers, are seated within the ngahere and are invited to do gentle movement, engage with the forest environment using their senses, enjoy refreshing tea and if they’d like, take a few gentle steps to explore the forest paths.
