Forest Flow Experience
7 February 2019

We are very excited to bring you this unique way to experience Maungatautari - focusing on mindful and meditative body movements, the "Forest Flow Experience" is our late night special event on 7th February. Forest Flow Experience incorporates a wide variety of standing and moving forms and walks with the intention of balancing and revitalising both body and mind. It involves a series of simple, gentle, flowing movements which are then repeated.

To bring you this unique experience, we are partnering with Rosie Cahalane of Compass Rose, a local instructor based in Te Awamutu. Rosie is highly experienced in mindful body movements, incorporating pilates, yoga and qigong techniques.

Rosie says "With the Forest Flow Experience, the graceful forms have a powerful meditative quality as well as being lots of fun. All fitness levels are welcome as the forms do not need to be complicated, precise, or technical to be beneficial."

Book early to avoid disappointment as spaces are very limited. Each Forest Flow ticket comes with a complimentary Southern Enclosure Explorer Pass to be used on the same day (you can arrive earlier or stay after the Forest Flow Experience).

Pricing   $45 per person or $80 for two.        Click Here to Book

Not Your Typical Date Night - 14th February
14 February 2019

We're very excited to share with you this one-off special event for Valentine's Day.

Curious about what your dating style and 'love language' are? Well, maybe some inspiration from nature may help.

Find out which animals mate for life (although divorces can and do happen!) and hear about the love stories of some of the resident wildlife at Sanctuary Mountain.

This 75-minute tour comes with a complimentary Sanctuary Explorer Pass, and to make the most out of your evening there is an optional picnic hamper available to purchase good for 2 people for only $60.

Not only will you learn cool facts about local wildlife throughout this tour, but you will also help their survival by supporting our conservation efforts.

Don't miss out on making this a Valentine's Day you'll remember by booking here right now.

Share the mauri and the mana of the maunga - 21st February
21 February 2019

The story of Tāne-mahuta, god of the forest and birds, separating his parents, Rangi-nui and Papatūānuku is a reminder that we are all related – the land, the weather, trees, insects, reptiles, fish, birds and of course, us! Ourforest ecosystem would not function without these connections. When our ancestors, both Māori and Pākehā,  arrived on New Zealand shores, they were met by towering forest trees and a wall of birdsong. The forest was, and continues to be, essential to life in New Zealand.

Join Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari guide Daniel in a special guided tour experience of Te Tui a Taane, our southern enclosure, as he shares his passion for the ngahere (forest) and mātauranga Māori (traditional knowledge).

Come on a tour of discovery where nature is the ultimate teacher! This tour is suitable for all ages and pricing starts at just $20 for a child.
