Carpark build starts at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari
Construction on the new visitor carpark begins at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari’s this Thursday, 7th November.
We are very excited about this new development, but there will be some disruption during its construction.
There are some changes to parking, fire exits and assembly areas.
For the general public:
- We hope there will be minimal disruption to our visitors and while space is limited by a pile of gravel, car parking is as usual for all visitors to Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari. If you require help with accessibility please phone ahead so we're able to communicate to our contractors and enable easier access for you to our .
For volunteers:
- Staff, and volunteers will NOT be able to use the carparks next to, and below, the visitors centre. Staff and volunteers who are working in the visitors centre, or doing aviary duty etc. in the southern enclosure, can use the area south of the gravel pile for the next two weeks. After that time you will have to park at the depot further down Tari Rd. We will communicate when this changes.
- All other staff and volunteers who do not work in the or southern enclosure e.g Operations, Natural Heritage, Nursery teams will need to park at the Depot further down Tari road.
- There will be no access on the south of the visitors centre during carpark construction. Temporary fencing will block access to this area from the ranch slider next to reception and across the grass outside the admin area.
- There are still many other emergency exits. The fire assembly point will be shifted to the top of the hill, against the fence, outside the admin area.
